I used to have a very rude expression about managers, and I've not changed my mind.

When an organisation gets into trouble it is invariably the management at fault. If you wish to hold a managerial position, make sure you're up to it. Any fool can manage in good times, but it takes real skill and nerve to manage when times get tough and sticky!
