It's quality that counts. If I had the spare disposable income, I'd be down my local butcher every week a decent joint for my Sunday roast (with enough left over to last me the week).

One of my staff used to have a saying, "Buy cheap, buy twice!" I have to say he was right more often than not and he was a right PITA to the finance department who always thought they could find what we wanted for a few pennies less.

Sun and wind are not the answer, as neither are reliable. Wave power on the other hand is reliable, predictable, unobtrusive, and very useable. Unfortunately, though, it requires a little bit more investment, not to mention foresight.
