The station's got a nod: https://stratfordobserver.co.uk/news/station-revamp-highly-commended-at-regional-transport-awards-44734/

To me, it seems more a case of bringing it up to date, rather than a revamp.

The current phase of work has been completed: https://leamingtonobserver.co.uk/news/revamped-leamington-station-ready-to-welcome-visitors-for-the-commonwealth-games/

The Art Deco styling needs to stay, some pot plants reminiscent of that time period in appropriate places, especially at the entrance. Clear signage /directions, accessibility, updating of the departure boards where required, TOILETS - I don't use the ones at the station unless I really have to. These could do with some refurbishing along with a general update of paint where needed. Even that would represent a substantial sum of money but you have to draw a line under spending. Too often the cost can be bandied about to get people on board and what a surprise the costs go up massively using all the usual excuses including more recent ones such as COVID, BREXIT etc. When this happens plans are either pruned back or another dollop of money found.

Merged the 2 threads - this station had better look fantastic!

I haven't used the station for years.

I don't think I've ever used it. Is it well used? Is the cash justified or is it just a way of spending what's leftover in the budget so next years' isn't cut?

I do know that I regularly see rail replacement busses running between Leamington and Nuneaton.

Leamington Railway Station Gets Another Upgrade
A fat pile of cash seems to be spent on the station every couple of years: https://leamingtonobserver.co.uk/news/leamington-station-improvements-on-track-for-commonwealth-games/

The long overdue Station improvements looks fine to me, but as far as contributing to local economy is a bit far fetched, especially in the present climate of shops closing.

'“Improving the accessibility to Leamington Spa Station and adding new signs to Victoria Park are among the initiatives that will improve the experience for visitors from across the UK and further afield who may be arriving in the town for the first time and will be boosting the local economy.”

Refurbishment of Leamington Railway Station
The station has had a hell of a lot of cash thrown at it in recent years: https://www.leamingtoncourier.co.uk/news/possible-improvements-to-leamington-s-railway-station-backed-by-town-s-mp-1-8639374
