I got my laptop back today, it had to have a new battery, I am not pleased with the result. When I switched it on the cursor kept jumping around and a cant get it to do what I want it to do. I left it on for a bit and the cursor just kept jumping around and so did the pages keep switching to and fro. sometimes the cursor flickers large then goes back to normal. I phoned the repair chaps up and I shall take it in tomorrow again for them to look at. They said it was ok when I came to pick it up, but they didn't switch it on in the shop for me to look at. So when I got home, I found it in the state I have mentioned. I hope they don't blame me for doing something to it. What causes the computer cursor to jump around? |

It's likely a setup issue Margaret. The computer has been completely powered down and has possibly lost/confused some of its default settings. Hopefully, they will recognise the issue straight away and be able to reset it. |

Thank you Rebbonk, I left if off for a while , now just switched it back on and it seems to be settling, but the cursor is still being slightly delayed when pointing to where I want to go. I shall have them look at it again tomorrow. it is likely as you you say, it has confused its settings. |

The first thing I used to tell my staff when they had computer issues (unless it was data loss), "Shut it fully down, go for a cup of coffee and then restart it." Most times it would cure the problem. Some computers and operating systems were more troublesome than others. |

All is well at present, my laptop seems to have settled back to normal now. Its working just fine. I didn't need to take it back to the repair shop.

Sound advice Rebbonk. I use that same advice when the internet connection is ropey. Unplug it, go put the kettle on, make a cuppa, come back, plug it in again and distract myself doing something whilst it comes back to life. |
