Home from work for a couple of days due to illness and spending much of the time in bed I am not exactly spruced up and prepared for callers. Today someone knocked, I got up, opened the door a little and she identified herself as the meter reader. I apologised and said I wasn't well and that I would send the readings in. Before closing the door I couldn't help but see the raised eyebrows and hear her breath being sucked through her teeth.

I assume that being home from work and unwell isn't on the list of excuses for refusing entry?

I only get one visit per year now. My readings are done online by me every week.
