Armed Forces Day community event to take place in Leamington Spa

An Armed Forces Day Community Event will commemorate current and former serving members next month in Leamington Spa. The event will be held on Saturday, June 28, from 11am to 3pm at the Pump Room Gardens.

The annual event builds on the success of previous years, with recognition of the Armed Forces and the contributions allies have made in past conflicts, and continue to 'make and strengthen', Warwick District Council says.

The free event will include information, activities, performances, and displays aimed at families, individuals, military enthusiasts, and current and former serving members of the Armed Forces.

The event will include stalls showcasing the military museums from Warwick, local military regiments, military vehicles, music from Ruby Ann Sings, free children's activities including a bouncy castle, trampolines, and an assault course, free hot dogs and ice creams and a Sikh langar, tri-service competition and a flypast from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's Avro Lancaster at around 1:44pm.

There will also be a chance to chat with officers from different services and backgrounds to learn more about a career in the military. The Armed Forces website states: "The armed forces include the British Army, Royal Air Force, and Royal Navy. Together, they’re responsible for the safety and security of the UK. They're involved in combat, peacekeeping, and humanitarian aid.

"There are hundreds of different armed forces careers. You have the chance to see the world in many jobs you can do in civilian life."
