Quote: THE MAYOR’S chauffeur is hanging up his driving gloves after 16 years. Pete Rourke joined Leamington Town Council in 2011 and has supported a long line of mayors, not only as their driver but as their attendant. He is a well-known presence at civic events across the town and beyond, supporting 14 mayors during his tenure. From charity fundraisers and community celebrations to formal occasions and late-night civic duties, Pete has been a constant and reassuring presence, often leading the way – quite literally, as mace-bearer. Many will recognise him from the front of the Remembrance Sunday civic parade, carrying the civic mace with great pride or guiding the mayoral procession at the town council’s annual meeting. Current mayor Coun Ruggy Sing, said, “Pete will be hugely missed, not just by the council but also by the wider community, who have come to know and respect his knowledge over the years. I have found his personal insight into events and the people surrounding them invaluable, and I offer him, on behalf of all former mayors, a debt of gratitude. As he prepares to enjoy a well-earned retirement, we thank him for his years of service and wish him all the very best for the future.” The town council is now looking to recruit a new mayor’s chauffeur/attendant. The successful candidate will be required to drive the mayor’s car and take the mayor and consort to and from a wide range of engagements. They will support and assist the mayor in their civic duties, ensuring that he or she arrives in good time. The post holder will also assist the town council team at relevant events, including acting as mace-bearer at some civic events. Source: Leamington Observer |

I got a message from Lex to say that is is still having problems posting. Lex if you are reading this, Rebbonk is also having problems posting. Would you rather just call it a day and let the forum die due to Low membership and all that. I'm not techy but Can't you contact the the boards host or forum software provider to sort out these kind of problems? The forum most likely needs and upgrade. |
