Win 10 turning internet access off

Anyone had windows 10 turn their internet off? It looks like you're connected, but you aren't.
I ask because it happened to a friend of mine. She took the computer to a local repair shop and they wanted £45 to sort it out. But they also told her that there seemed to be a bit of an epidemic of this and pointed to half a dozen other computers they had with the same symptom.
It took me less than 5 minutes to sort the problem.
Open up the internet dialogue box, and ask the computer to verify that you have the latest driver for your set-up. It reloads/resets the driver and you are good to go.
