Personally, I don't see the point; people already know the area as Lighthorne Heath, why change it?

I don't see the point either, but wonder if is down to past association with the airfield? From memory, it wasn't held in particularly high regard.

Hmm, that's not something I'm familiar with. Do you know much of the story, Rebbonk?

I really can't remember Lex, it was a long time ago and I wasn't based at Gaydon for very long. I believe Lighthorne Heath was used as quarters for airfield staff. There were also quarters for staff for the ammo depot nearby.
Thinking aloud, I'm wondering if it has anything to do with possible nuclear contamination? One of the old airfield hangars was said to have suffered some sort of contamination and (IIRC) there were several workers went down with possible radiation linked health problems. But, it was never proven and no radioactive contamination was found, despite an investigation.
There's a lot there that's still classified, I believe that there are plenty of underground facilities in existence.

Lex, airfield information exchange (Airfield Research Group) may have some info on Gaydon. I know I posted a few things (unrelated to this) a while back.

I think that shows the level of interest, doesn't it?
Sadly, it's a reflection of society in general to politics: we have no right to complain if we don't turn out to vote! I can't remember who said it, but his words went along the lines of, "a society gets the government it deserves!" Same applies to local councils!
