Hope they get the hall back up and running, but the trustees of the hall are generally regarded to be a waste of space, so the campaign's 1st job will be help remove their heads from their backsides: http://www.stratford-herald.com/75806-action-groups-bid-to-save-hall.html

That's its good side. Round the back, it's been boarded up for years.

A bit of a shock; I had the impression that SDC weren't all that bothered about the Greig Centre: http://www.stratford-herald.com/79133-district-council-set-take-alcesters-greig-hall.html

I've heard rumours of severe mismanagement of the Greig Hall; perhaps the trustees are reluctant to hand it over for fear of revealing how bad things really are?

You may well be right. I know of several instances of poor management by trustees, and it can be a real b*gger to bring them to book. One case I know, the trustees sold property for £40k to a local businessman. I suspected it was worth a lot more and asked to see their independent valuations on the property. - Red faces all round, they hadn't bothered getting a valuation. I know (but will never prove) that money had changed hands!

I doubt the District Council will a penny of the £800,000 they want back; that will have been frittered away years ago: http://www.102touchfm.co.uk/round-here/news/local-news/greig-hall-bosses-ordered-to-repay-800000-of-funding/

Things don't look for the Trustees - they've been told to go away & try harder: https://stratfordobserver.co.uk/news/long-running-greig-hall-dispute-continues-following-court-case/

It's good when the community comes together for a cause it believes in.
